Inverted nipple surgery

The procedure

The nipple and the tissues under the nipple are then raised to a normal protruding posture. Stitches are then applied to hold the nipple in this position. This method allows the nipple to remain in this position permanently. If breastfeeding capabilities are to be retained, the milk ducts inside the nipple can be fully preserved. However, if breastfeeding is not a concern, then the milk ducts can be detached by the surgeon: this makes the operation simpler and much easier to perform. After the stitching is done, dressing is applied to the area of operation. The whole duration of the surgery is very short compared to other cosmetic interventions; the operation usually does not last for over half an hour.

The healing period

The total amount of time that recovery after nipple correction takes is usually not more than two weeks, and the dressing can be removed after 7-10 days. There may be some natural bruising and swelling during the recovery, and the scars from the surgery will probably take several months to fade. However, you should keep in mind that this is a very minor surgery, and aside from a few uncomfortable side-effects, like pain in the breast area, or a little swelling, there should be no complications at all. Furthermore, if you closely follow your doctor’s directions, everything should be in perfect order, and your recovery will be as quick as possible.
