The vision correction by laser lasts a lifetime, and the outcome is outstanding. Nearsighted and farsighted patients can both benefit from PRK. The disadvantage of the surgery is that it causes discomfort and can even be painful in the first few days after the treatment.

The laser vision correction usually lasts for a lifetime. The cornea is a very stable tissue; once it has been modified by an excimer laser, it stays in that modified state permanently.
